Fit Pregnancy publishes birth stories of women who faced challenges during their pregnancy, labor, delivery and/or postpartum months and who emerged stronger than before.
To readers whose stories are printed, Fit Pregnancy awards prizes: a gift basket of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula products (Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks, Firming Butter, Pump Lotion, Swivel Stick, Body Gloss Tube, Bust Firming Massage Cream, Foot Magic, Bottom Butter, Baby Butter Massage Lotion, Nursing Cream; valued at $49, and Butter Faces) and $300.
Tell us your story in 600 words: Describe in detail your pregnancy and/or birth challenge, how you felt while you faced it and how your friends and family reacted. Include three tips or pieces of advice for other moms who may face the same challenge. Birth stories do not need to be about diet and exercise; however, if they play a part in your story, please note that Fit Pregnancy recommends moderation in both areas, especially during and immediately after pregnancy.
Please note: We will not return photos or stories. An editor will contact you by phone or e-mail if your story is chosen for publication; please do not contact us to ask about your story. We keep stories on file for one year.
In addition, all readers whose stories are published must sign a release form stating that their story may not appear in any other pregnancy- or parenting- related media for a period of two years.
SUBMIT YOUR STORY
You can send us your stories via mail or e-mail. If sending via mail, your story must be typed and double-spaced. Send your story and photos to:
Fit Pregnancy Birth Stories
21100 Erwin St.
Woodland Hills, CA 91367
To submit your story via e-mail, type the story in the body of the e-mail; be sure to type "Birth Story" and your name in the subject line. Send the e-mail to letters@fitpregnancy.com. Please do not e-mail photos unless your story is accepted (an editor will contact you).
PHOTO GUIDELINES
Please send us clear, uncut, color photos of your family. Write your name, address and phone number on the back of each photo. Photos can be sent to the address above.
KEEP IN MIND:
* We cannot accept Polaroids or digital photos printed on computer paper.
* We accept digital photographs via e-mail only if they are high resolution (at least 300 dpi); these photos may be e-mailed to the editor if your story is chosen.
* Make sure your photos are taken in good lighting. We should be able to see everyone's face clearly. Please avoid background clutter (for example, do not stand in front of a staircase, mirror, painting or wall decorations).
* Have fun with your photos. Standard, professional family portraits are not what we're looking for. Aim for casual, real-life snapshots. Put your baby in a carrier, push him in a swing or let him sit on sit on your or your partner's shoulders, if your baby is old enough. Doing something (while smiling!) is encouraged.
