Today’s children are at risk for obesity and its accompanying health problems, including high blood pressure, but being breastfed during infancy might reduce risk of childhood hypertension. A study of more than 2,000 children found that mother’s milk had as positive an impact on children’s blood pressure at ages 9 to 15 as salt restriction or exercise. — S.R.
