Star shower power Victoria Recano, host of CBS’s The Insider, gave birth to Maximilienne Elizabeth in February, but not before her friends at The Hot Moms’ Club (and Fit Pregnancy) threw her a starstudded baby shower at Ketchup in Hollywood. Her secrets for getting your dream shower:

Tell your friends you want to help plan. “Don’t be subtle!” says Recano.

Make your guests feel like celebs. Literally roll out a red carpet outside and appoint someone (like your husband) to take lots of photos.

Register like a star. Hot Moms’ celebrity planner Natalie Klein says that singer Sheryl Crow and actress Salma Hayek are fans of Bel Bambini (bel-bambini.com) and that actress-moms Ana Ortiz, Jennifer Lopez and Jenna Elfman love giggle.com. (For big-ticket items, suggest people go in together.)

Serve bite-size food and fruity drinks. Recano had Natalie Bovis-Nelsen (author of 2008’s Preggatinis) mixing yummy nonalcoholic drinks; Ketchup served sliders and mini tacos; and Los Angeles bakery Crumbs laid out tiny red velvet, turtle and (actress Katie Holmes’ favorite) Oreo cupcakes.
