Eating a cholesterol-lowering diet during pregnancy may reduce your risk of delivering too early, according to Norwegian researchers. In their study, 11 of 149 pregnant women who ate their usual diets delivered preterm compared with only one of 141 women whose diets emphasized fish, low-fat meats, dairy products, whole grains, healthful oils, fruit, vegetables and legumes. The latter mothers also had lower blood-cholesterol levels.
