To Dye or Not to Dye?
For answers to your biggest hair-care questions, we turned to OB-GYN Chrysten Cunningham, D.O.
| Do | Color hair in a well-ventilated area, as the fumes may cause dizziness, nausea or headaches. Step outside for some fresh air if symptoms arise. |
| Don't | Color hair in your first trimester. Although hair dye has not been shown in studies to harm the fetus, it’s best to wait until after your 12th week. |
| Do | Try highlights or pregnancy-safe hair color, such as henna or Advanced Cosmetic Technologies Permanent Hair Color ($30). |
| Don't | Chemically straighten your hair during pregnancy. The strong chemicals used for this treatment are applied too close to the scalp. |
