Treats for your feet
Paint your toenails with pregnancy-safe polish
It might be harder to reach your feet as your belly grows, but that doesnt mean your toenails need to go ungroomed, especially in summer, when they show. However, a report by the Environmental Working Group linked common nail polish ingredients, including phthalates, formaldehyde and toluene, with slight abnormalities in baby boys genitals.
The ingredients also are linked with respiratory problems and have been declared potentially toxic to the reproductive system, possibly lowering fertility or reducing your chances of a healthy, full-term pregnancy. While you should avoid polishes that contain dibutyl phthalate (DBP), companies arent always required to list it on the label. Go to ewg.org/reports/skindeep to learn more about the safety of your polish brand. we like: Zoya, $5, in Garbo (shown); Quickie Natural Nail Shiner, $3, for buffing nails; and Honeybee Gardens Odorless Nail Polish Remover, $7.
