Caribbean Cobbler

2 guavas and 2 apples, peeled, seeded and chopped
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon guava paste
1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons cold water
1 cup fresh strawberries, halved
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon each: baking powder and cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
Preheat oven to 400. Grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
In a saucepan, bring guavas, apples, sugar, water, juice and guava paste to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Add cornstarch mixture, stirring until thick and bubbly. Fold in strawberries. Pour into prepared dish.
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until crumbly. Mix in egg and milk. Drop batter into 6 mounds on top of hot fruit. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes. Serve hot, dusted with powdered sugar, if desired.
