  1. I was very disappointed to see that the winner of this photo contest was of a doctor or nurse pulling the baby out of the mother at a c-section and displaying the baby to what appears to be the father of the child who is making an aggressive gesture as if he found out that his child was a boy. The other entries capture much more fleeting, special moments than the winning photo, which is likely to happen every day in a c-section operating room. I am hopeful that it was not FitPregnancy that chose the winner and DiscoveryHealth. While I am sure this moment was memorable for the family of this child, there is nothing "winning" about the photograph itself.

  2. As someone who had a planned c-section due to a medical condition, I take exception with the comment above. Everyone's birth experience is unique and it's unfair to put judgment on women [or men] whose children are born this way. And why do we assume that the Dad would only be pumped up to have a boy? Maybe he's excited and relieved to see a healthy baby. Great photo expressing genuine emotion!!

  3. Well I for one and disappointed to see a harsh, judgemental comment like Emily's on this page. There is nothing "winning" about her attitude. then again, jealousy can make a person truly ugly. Is a simple congratulations too hard for some people? We don't know the whole story behind the photo and shame on Emily for passing such nasty judgements. That photo of the belly with the baby's foot has been on the internet for a very long time now and it's safe to say that it was "borrowed" just for this contest. I wonder if Emily would have complained about that one if it won?
