What Exactly Is A Diastasis?

Find out what Diastasis is and how to check for it.

What it is: A separation of the rectus abdominis, the "six pack" abdominal muscles, at the linea alba. It's caused by the force of the uterus pushing against the abdominal wall as well as by pregnancy hormones that soften connective tissue.

How to check for it: Lie on your back with knees bent, feet flat. Place one hand behind your head and the fingertips of your other hand horizontally just below your belly button.
