8.4.09: Baby Hammocks Recalled
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Nova Natural Toys & Crafts LLC, of Williston, Vt. have recalled about 265 Yayita Baby Hammocks because the hammock can flip over, posing a serious fall hazard and strangulation hazard to infants who become entrapped in the seat’s restraint straps while upside down.The hammocks were sold by Nova Natural online at www.novanatural.com from October 2007 through October 2008 for about $100. Consumers should immediately stop using the baby hammock and contact Nova Natural to receive a free replacement hammock. 7.28.09: BabySwede LLC Recalls Bouncer Chairs
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and BabySwede LLC, of Cleveland, Ohio have recalled about 6,500 BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance and BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance Air bouncer chairs because small, sharp metal objects found in the padded area of the bouncer chair can protrude, posing a laceration hazard to children.
The recall involves the BabyBjörn’s Babysitter Balance and Babysitter Balance Air bouncers sold at baby product retailers and various mass merchants nationwide, online retailers and catalogs from September 2008 through July 2009. The Babysitter Balance sold for about $170, and the Babysitter Balance Air for about $190. Recalled models and colors can be found by visiting the CPSC.
Consumers should immediately stop using both Babysitter Balance and Babysitter Balance Air bouncer chairs and contact BabySwede LLC for instructions on how to return the recalled products for inspection and relabeling. If any metal pieces are found through inspection, the consumer will be provided with a new BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance product. 7.8.09: Kolcraft Recalls 1 Million Play Yards
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. of Chicago, Ilinois have recalled about 1 million Kolcraft, Carter’s, Sesame Street, Jeep, Contours, Care Bear and Eric Carle Play Yards because the play yard’s side rail can fail to latch properly and when a child pushes against the rail it can unlatch unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard to children.
The firm has received 347 reports of sides of the play yard collapsing unexpectedly, resulting in 21 injuries to young children, including bumps, scrapes, bruises and one concussion. For photos and model numbers of the recalled play yards, plus additional information, visit the CPSC.
