The actress fessed up about her husband's breast milk sampling.
When you gave birth to your first baby, those first few days can be pretty overwhelming. From actually, you know, having the newborn to figuring out how to change diapers, survive on little sleep and mastering breastfeeding, there was a lot to do all at once. And then there's your brand new asset: your boobs. Full of milk, bigger than ever and right in everyone's face as your baby learns to latch on. Odds are, your mate was probably pretty intrigued about that whole shebang.
So it might not be super shocking that actress and mom, Amber Tamblyn, confessed that her husband, David Cross, sampled her breast milk. As she told Us Weekly, "Yes, he drank it! He loved it! At first he was like, 'I'm not so sure about this.' I was like 'This is an honorary thing that husbands have to do, is drink their wives' milk."
Apparently after he tried a sampling, he "drank the whole thing."
While Cross seemed to like his wife's goods, Natalie Rizzo MS, RD, a NYC-based registered dietitian says that it probably didn't do much for him nutritionally. "Breast milk has things that children need, like a high concentration of lactoferrin and immunoglobulins, both of which help to establish the immune system in infants. It's also much higher in fat than cow's milk because infants need fat while they're growing. And it's lower in protein than cow's milk," she explains. "There's no reason that an adult can't drink something of this composition, but it's just not suited for their diet and lifestyle. That being said, drinking human breast milk is probably still healthier than some of the other junk foods that are out there."
But here's the big question—did you, or your mate, taste your breast milk? What did you think?
