Brighten Up!

To create this roost for a couple expecting their baby girl, Joanna Gick and Jennifer O'Dowd, co-owners of J&J Design Group in Scottsdale, Ariz., used a peppy color palette of yolky yellow and crisp coral. A focal wall cloaked in bird wallpaper ( gives the space a serene, floating feeling. Inspired? Help your little birdie's room take off with the following tips from Gick and O'Dowd.

Create The Look

1. To maximize space, choose a dresser with plenty of drawers for storage and enough real estate to serve as a changing table. If painting an antique piece, end with a high-sheen clear coat—it makes wiping up messes no big deal.

2. When looking for artwork, search smaller shops, like Etsy. Artists are often happy to customize the color or modify the words of the piece you like, so it's totally unique!

3. Add a rug that doesn't canvas the entire floor to keep a room from feeling small.
