Anne Hathaway's Real Take on Postpartum Weight Loss Will Make You Love Her More

"There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever)."

There's nothing wrong with looking a little bit different after having a baby. We all know this, but when you live in a world that glorifies women who are able to "bounce back" and slide into their skinny jeans weeks after delivery, it can be hard to accept it. It's perfectly natural to feel a bit thrown by all the things pregnancy does to your body—but it's just not worth beating yourself up over. Anne Hathaway knows, this and she got real about postpartum body image in a recent Instagram post.

It all started with a pair of denim cutoffs. The actress, who welcomed her first son in March, shared a photograph of a pair of jeans she fashioned into a new pair of shorts. Why? Because her old pair of cutoffs weren't working for her post-baby body.

“There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs,” Anne, who is married to Adam Shulman, said. “Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.)”

The Oscar winner went on discuss the pressure women feel to lose weight after baby. "There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever)," she wrote. "There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all)."

All we have to say about this is....praise. Sure, it can be tough to adjust to your body when it undergoes drastic changes—but there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed when this happens. After all, motherhood is the ultimate growing experience. Sometimes your body reflects this...and it's not the end of the world.
