The Cleveland Cavaliers teammate and his fiancée, Teyana Taylor, welcomed their baby into the world in a bathroom—and the basketball star delivered her himself.
It turns out Iman Shumpert of the Cleveland Cavaliers isn't just a talented basketball player—he's also remarkably good in a crisis.
That skill was put to the test on December 16 when the athlete's fiancée, Teyana Taylor, went into labor. They were expecting their baby in January but Teyana found herself giving birth a month early while she was in the bathtub.
The couple didn't have time to make it to the hospital so Shumpert literally took his daughter's life into his own hands. He delivered the baby using his his bare hands and a pair of headphones, which he tied around the umbilical cord. Teyana didn't even realize she was in labor until she felt the baby's head.
The new mom posted an announcement on Instagram introducing her daughter, Iman Tayla Shumpert, Jr., to the world. Teyana's post revealed intimate details about the baby's birth, including the fact that she born after two sets of ten-count pushes. "Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered you. #MeetTheParents we love you baby girl!," she wrote alongside the photo of the newborn.

On Dec 16th at 6:42am in our bathroom Junie decided she wanted to take her first breath into this world. She came out as a wonderful surprise to everyone! Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her head...it took two ten count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr and she entered this world into his bare hands! Eyes full of tears and barely able to speak to the emergency operator @imanshumpert tied a pair of red headphones around the umbilical cord and the ambulance made there grand entrance 5 min later. She opened her eyes right away, gazed into mine and never cried! He handed her to me wrapped in our bath towel and wiped her face for me to see what LOVE really is. She has blown Christmas away! Our family is complete. Her blueprint will be unmatched. Welcome Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered you. #MeetTheParents we love you baby girl💂🏾🐞👶🏾
