Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a baby girl!

The princess, who is named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana and is fourth in line to the throne thanks to a recent royal rule change, was "safely delivered" at 8:34 BST (3:34 EST) and weighs 8lbs 3oz, according to a Kensington Palace statement.

The Duke of Cambridge, dad Prince William, was there for the birth and both Catherine and her daughter are said to be "doing well".

The duchess gave birth in the same hospital where Prince George was born in July 2013.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news," the royal statement added.

The princess is the fourth in line for the throne after her grandfather Prince Charles, dad Prince William and brother Prince George (Prince Harry is now fifth in line). She will also not be overtaken if she has any future younger siblings, including brothers.

Grandpa Prince Charles said he was hoping the new baby would be a girl—and it looks like he was right!
