Three months after her birth, actress Keira Knightley finally reveals her daughter's name. As a baby name, it's both old-fashioned and undeniably adorable.
The The Imitation Game actress, 30, along with her musician husband, James Righton, welcomed their first child back in May but has only now, in the September issue of Elle, revealed the little one's name: Edie.
"The love thing is astonishing," Knightley tells the magazine of becoming a mom. "It's a very primal, primal love. That's quite extraordinary. And the ability to have no sleep and continue going. It's not pleasant—I never thought that I could actually do it for the amount of time that I've done it."
Edie, according the Social Security Administration, ranked in the 800s on the top 1,000 most popular baby name list in the United States from 1959 to 1960, but has fallen off since. Edie Sedgwick, Edie Falco and Edie Brickell are the most notable Edies, but Knightley's naming could mean a resurgence.
Especially when fans hear the new mom's honest comments about motherhood and body images.
"I have to say, as a woman, you hate certain parts of your body," Knightley tells Elle. "You go through those periods where you look in the mirror and you think, 'Oh, if only I had different legs or arms or whatever.' You go through pregnancy and labor and then feeding the kid and you go, 'Wow, my body is totally amazing, and I'm never going to not like it again, because it did this, and this is f-----g extraordinary.'"
