Kerry Washington's latest quip about motherhood will resonate SO strongly with all the new mamas out there.
Kerry Washington seems every bit as composed as her Scandal character—but if the actress's most recent comments on motherhood are any indication, Kerry Washington is every bit as exhausted and overwhelmed as we all are.
The star appeared at the Golden Globes and made a joke about the nature of motherhood during her red carpet interview. “It’s the best acting of my life right here, the well-rested woman,” Kerry told Extra when asked if she was getting enough sleep as a mother of two. “It’s my best role.”
We hear what she's saying, and we totally understand it. It's easy for us to look at celebrities and feel like their lifestyles are so different than what we know—but let's not forget that Kerry is a mom of two little ones (daughter Isabelle is two, son Caleb is three months). For even the non-actors among us, new motherhood involves pretending we're well-rested even when we're not, and powering through the most intense sleep deprivation ever to get everything we need to get done, done.
Kerry, who is an only child herself, expressed fear over growing her brood during her second pregnancy—and while she is, admittedly, not very well-rested, the mama did recognize that she's "blessed" to have her beautiful family.
Kerry isn't the only famous mom who made a strong working mama statement on the Golden Globes red carpet—Drew Barrymore also showed us that famous parents struggle to find that balance between work and parenthood. Working moms out there: Can you relate?
