Pregnant Kim Kardashian West wears sheer gown to the Givenchy show at New York Fashion Week—shocking fans. But should wearing maternity wear always mean covering up?
Kim Kardashian West is changing the maternity wear game again this week—by giving onlookers a full-frontal view of her bulging bump at the Givenchy New York Fashion Week show on Friday.
While most celebs with baby bumps take the safe, yet elegant route of figure-fitting maternity gowns when it comes to event style, Kim K. West has zero plans to halt her fashion game. Making an appearance at the catwalk show, the reality star sported a sheer, lacy dress, which covered up her bosom and bottom, but left her belly on display.
Crafted, naturally, by Givenchy—one of Kim's favorites—the bohemian black dress highlighted her bump with a pattern of lotus petals, representing the "divine birth," which she accessorized with a simple black-beaded cross, her hair pulled back in a chignon and neutral makeup. Yes, this outfit was clearly all about the bump.
And who could blame her for making the most of this pregnancy? After all, she's had a tough time of it—from criticism for looking overweight to not looking pregnant enough, alongside a battle with placenta accreta.
While Riccardo Tisci of the French fashion line deserves some serious credit for designing this unique fashion piece, Kim gets major kudos for wearing it, too. After all, in a world where pregnant women even get body-shamed at the beach, Kim's saying bump-aired-don't-care to the haters with this number. And there just might be something we love about that.
