Kim Kardashian might have some controversial views, but like it or not she's saying what many women feel while navigating through pregnancy: It ain't always easy.
Kim Kardashian doesn't mince words when it comes to describing pregnancy—she hates it.
Not only hates it, but the 34-year-old calls pregnancy "the worst experience of my life" in an article posted on her subscription-only website and smartphone app, according to People. "I don't enjoy one moment of it and I don't understand people who enjoy it. My mom and Kourtney [Kardashian] clearly did! More power to them but I just don't relate!"
The reason, she says, is that "I just always feel like I'm not in my own skin. It's hard to explain. I don't feel sexy, either—I feel insecure and most of the time I just feel gross." This might explain why she barely has one picture of her pregnant bump on Instagram, instead peppering her feed with flashbacks to her pre-preggo self.
Kardashian hasn't exactly had an easy time of it with her two pregnancies. Her first with daughter North West was filled with serious health challenges, including placenta accreta, a life-threatening condition where the placenta attaches too deep into the uterus. The constant debate over her pregnant body and how she decides to dress it has clearly taken its toll as well.
But while it may seem like the reality star is complaining—and she admits she is—she's revealing a different side of pregnancy that few pregnant women (especially celebrity ones) are reluctant to admit: It isn't always walk in the park. Pregnancy taps a whole bunch of resources, both physical and emotional, from mothers and it's really only natural to be just "over it" at times and feel a sense of longing for pre-pregnancy life. And that goes for even the happiest of women who love the whole experience.
Do those feelings make Kardashian or any other woman who feels this way less of a mother? No. It makes them human.
Her quest to not "hide anything" from her fans means exposing them to everything, both good and bad. But, as she sums it up, pregnancy doesn't seem so bad in hindsight because "it is all SO worth it when you have your precious baby in the end."
And every mother can agree with that!
