The dancer and mom-to-be is seriously dedicated to her regular workouts.
She's the reigning victor of Dancing With the Stars—so it's no surprise Peta Murgatroyd is approaching pregnancy like a champion. The Australian dance pro is 20-weeks-pregnant with her first child and shows no signs of slowing down her active lifestyle.
Peta shared a video of herself sweating it out in the gym along with a message about how she's approaching prenatal fitness. “I am loving keeping fit whilst I’m pregnant. I’m 20 weeks and although I could sit on the couch watching TV all day, I have to get up and keep moving! To me it’s imperative for women to have an active pregnancy,” she captioned the video.
I am loving keeping fit whilst I'm pregnant. I'm 20 weeks and although I could sit on the couch watching TV all day, I have to get up and keep moving! To me it's imperative for women to have an active pregnancy. It's better for your well being and it's great for your baby (within the limits your doctor has given you of course) Everyone will have an opinion about this, and that's ok, but until I'm too big that I can't move, I will be doing some sort of exercise each day. Believe me, it's not easy, I'm not used to this body I have at the moment, and I'm heavier than I have ever been. The parts @maksimc and I laugh about the most, are the fact that I have to roll out of bed (I don't want to squish the baby🙈), I use my hands to push myself off the couch and he has to boost my butt out of his low car 😂 Ladies, your health is everything and we have to laugh 😉 @royalpersonaltraining @shahinsafae
The dancer, who will welcome a son with fiancé (and fellow Dancing With the Stars champ) Maksim Chmerkovskiy, clearly likes to mix up her workouts—she uses kettlebells, dumbbells and a medicine ball in the routine posted on her Instagram account. Let's not forget that she was already pregnant when she took the Dancing With the Stars Mirrorball trophy with partner Nyle DiMarco, which is no small feat. We're pretty amazed by Peta's stamina, commitment and heathy outlook.
That's not to say it's been easy for the star. "Everyone will have an opinion about this, and that's ok, but until I'm too big that I can't move, I will be doing some sort of exercise each day. Believe me, it's not easy, I'm not used to this body I have at the moment, and I'm heavier than I have ever been," she wrote alongside the video.
Every pregnancy is different—and the fact that Peta was crazy fit before pregnancy certainly helps—but we hope other pregnant women will take a bit of inspiration from her. Sure, daily workouts just aren't in the cards for every woman, and that's fine. With that being said, exercising throughout your pregnancy (yup, even into that third trimester!) is so, so important and beneficial.
