The famous mama appreciates her changed postpartum body and we love her attitude. Can you relate?
It's hard to believe Chrissy Teigen hasn't always felt sexy—but the celebrity recently opened up about the way she sees her own body, and she admitted that never really thought of it as something "sexual."
That is, until she became a mother. Chrissy shared that despite her glamorous lifestyle, she's always viewed herself as a bit of a tomboy. Chrissy, who welcomed baby Luna with husband John Legend, embraces her new shape and the changes from her pregnancy just fine.
“I think you just feel really feminine [after having a baby]," Chrissy told Elle Australia. "I always felt like a bit of a tomboy, and I never looked at my body as particularly sexual—I wasn’t a curvy girl. But to be able to see my body afterwards, and of course you get, like, hips. Finally, for the first time, I feel like I have a bit more of a womanly figure.”
We're totally into her body-positive attitude—and we love that Chrissy sees her post-baby shape in such a positive light. And we also love how candid she has been about the advantages celebrities have where their postpartum bodies are concerned. By her own admission, celebrities have "all the help" when it comes to bouncing back—which makes it much easier for celebs like Chrissy to start "feeling herself" when she can enlist professionals to help her eat right, workout often and nail her postpartum style.
So if you haven't quite reached Chrissy's level of self-acceptance with your own postpartum body, don't despair. But if you do relate to what she's saying and are loving your new set of curves as well—that's awesome! Ultimately, we believe self-love comes when you learn to embrace those changes. Chrissy clearly gets it, and we think all new mamas should take a cue from her line of thinking.
