Would You Make an Instagram Account for Your Newborn?

Michael Phelps's infant son is already sporting serious social media skills...but is it too much too soon?

Boomer Phelps Instagram

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and his wife, model Nicole Johnson, just welcomed their first child a few weeks ago, but the little one already has something many adults don't: an Instagram account.

Boomer Robert Phelps happened to inspire some of his dad's most-loved social media moments—in fact, the first public shot of Michael holding his son earned 107,000 likes on Instagram. It appears Boomer is a natural social media star, so it's fitting that he already has his own account (which has just nine posts to date but has attracted nearly 19,000 followers).

We think Boomer's Insta is super cute, but this whole thing begs the question: Would you ever start an Instagram account for your newborn baby? Do you think Boomer is too young to "be" on social media, or is this just a cool way of sharing photos of your child with the people who actually want to see them? After all, your co-workers, friends from college, etc. who follow you on social media simply don't have to follow your kid if they're not interested.

P.S. While you're deciding, check out some of Boomer's best shots!
