The model who made headlines for keeping her impressive six-pack abs intact throughout her pregnancy shows off her post-baby body, and it's ripped.
She became an inspiration to pregnant women everywhere—and also an easy for target for critics—when she debuted her pregnant body, complete with enviable six-pack abs. Now, the woman dubbed the "six-pack mom" is facing mixed reactions once again: Her post-baby body is jaw-droppingly impressive; she lost almost all of the weight she gained during those nine months in a ridiculously short time frame.
Sarah Stage looks amazing—but the fact she dropped almost all the weight she gained in just two weeks begs the question: Did she go about her weight loss the healthy way? Considering that experts recommend gradual weight loss (read: no more than 4.5 pounds a week), the fact that Stage dropped nearly 28 pounds in just two weeks seems a bit questionable, even when you consider that a woman is expected to lose 10 pounds just by giving birth. And while we certainly don't believe in judging a woman's body, we also believe it's very important that women keep up healthy habits postpartum.
"I made a promise to myself that I wanted to get into the best shape that I could before I was pregnant, and once I was pregnant I worked with my trainer, and he had little workouts you could do while you were pregnant," Stage said. "I wanted to maintain some sort of workout while I was pregnant."
Stage also revealed that she managed to do the impossible: She maintained her healthy eating habits even while she was in the hospital recovering from her C-section. "I asked my mother-in-law to bring over homemade chicken noodle soup and vegetables and fruit. That was the best gift that anybody brought me at the hospital. I think it's important to eat as healthy as you can, right after having the baby too, to give the baby extra nutrients," she said.
As for that rapid weight loss, Stage said: "James was a big baby—he was almost 9 lbs.—so with that plus all the fluid, you lose a lot, so it took me a week or two to get down to [my pre-baby] weight."
We know what you're thinking: What does this woman do in the job to maintain such an incredible physique? Stage answered that question as well. "I do mostly weight training," she shared. "I mix that in with workouts to get my heart rate up, like lunges and squats and ab work."
So there you have it.
