Combs was 23 weeks pregnant when she learned of her diagnosis. Doctors advised her to have her baby right away but Combs refused, saying she wanted to wait until her baby had a chance of survival. Unfortunately, this meant Combs had to give up her cancer treatment.

According to WGN, Combs and her family went to have photos taken on December 4, a day before she went into labor. She gave birth to a daughter named Shaylin, who weighed just over two pounds at birth. According to a post from the family's photographer, the baby is doing well. But here's where the story takes another tragic turn: Combs passed away on December 8. Her husband posted an emotional message on the family's GoFundMe page. "I wanted to let everyone know that we lost Cara Walters Combs this morning. I don't have to tell you how great of a person she was. She will be missed by all. I always knew she was destined for greater things. We all have a perfect angel looking over us. She was the strongest person I ever met and the best wife and mother. She sacrificed everything so her legacy could live on. Thank you for all your support and prayers. She was my everything and always will be," he wrote.

The tragic story highlights just much a mom is willing to sacrifice for her baby. Even if she is no longer here to be with her child, Combs gave her little one the ultimate gift: life.
