Inger Houghton was lifting weights well into her pregnancy—even at nine months pregnant, she was showing off photos of herself reaching around her baby bump to keep up her strength training regimen. And now, just ten weeks after giving birth, Houghton is showing off the fruits of her labor in a photo that puts her toned abs on full display.

Houghton shared the secret to her enviable post-baby body—and the truth is, there is no secret; it's just a result of lots of hard work. "I stayed active for my entire pregnancy," Houghton told Caters News Agency.

We know what you're thinking—sure, working out while pregnant is necessary, but did this woman take it too far? After all, doctors recommend taking it easy and listening to your body at the gym during pregnancy.

Houghton has an answer to that. "I didn't train as often or as hard as before of course, but I would have gone mad if I couldn't do anything for nine months," she said.

The fact that Houghton was already in fantastic shape doesn't hurt—and neither does that fact that she had a healthy gestation. "Luckily I had a good pregnancy without any major problems, so it didn't feel like a struggle to keep active," she said. "I felt a big change in my balance as my belly grew, and obviously doing pull-ups with 14 kg. extra was a bit harder."

The Dubai-based 31-year-old had a good reason for keeping in shape through her pregnancy. "My focus was to maintain my fitness level as much as possible," Houghton says. "I was prepared to gain weight, as this is an important part of lots of pregnancies, but I wanted to maintain as much muscle mass as possible. Being strong would help me cope with the changes the pregnancy made to my body, and also prepare me for giving birth," she said.

But before you decide that Houghton is simply a superhuman specimen, consider that even Houghton struggled to make regularly scheduled gym visits. "There is no doubt that growing a baby inside you can be hard, so some days the sofa won over the gym," she said. "I gained weight very quickly in the beginning. I didn't look pregnant, only bigger than I used to, and this wasn't as fun when you have a lot of people 'watching' through social media."

Houghton insisted that the weight came off easily after she gave birth. "After giving birth I lost 11 kilos in 11 days, and it almost went quicker than I wanted," she admits. "I lost a lot of muscle mass as well and I didn't recognize my body. It was a very weird experience," she said. "We had our daughter right around Christmas so I ate a lot of chocolate and still lost weight—I wish it always could be like that."

So do we, Inger. So do we.
