Why This Mama Worked Out in the Delivery Room

Talk about dedication! Fit mom Anna Strode shared a clip of herself working out just HOURS before she welcomed her baby. 

When we say Anna Strode worked out right up until she delivered her baby, we really mean it—and here's proof.

The mama shared a clip of herself working out in the delivery room just a few hours before she gave birth. Yes, hours—and any woman who has ever been heavily pregnant will tell you just how hard it is to work out towards the end. And let's not forget how emotionally and physically exhausting labor is. To add exercise on top of everything else you're going through at that point? Well, it's pretty amazing.

Not surprisingly, Strode's followers were just as amazed as we were by the video—and several wondered if getting up and getting a quick workout in actually helped Strode take her mind off of the pain and stress of labor. We caught up with the mama to hear more.

"I had a very traumatic birth with [my] twins, Lachie and Sammy. I really wanted to do everything I could to make this birth experience much more positive, but at the same time I was anxious about what laid ahead. This really helped ease my mind," Strode told Fit Pregnancy.

But Strode admitted that this sort of approach may not work for everyone. "Every labor is completely different and I'm not a medical professional either, so I would never push anything on anyone. It certainly helped me, but in saying that, I could have never done this when in labor with the twins," she said. "Every pregnancy is different—I encourage moms to do what feels right for them."

Strode isn't the only mama out there who showed incredible energy at the tail end of pregnancy. We've also seen a mama who powered through a tough workout at 41 weeks; the woman, who danced her way into labor; and this mom, who slayed a hip-hop routine right before she delivered. How do these mamas do it? Well, everyone is different, but here's what Strode had to say.

"I'm a big believer in energy promotes energy," she said. "A workout actually gives me more energy to face my day with strength and positivity. I find when I don't workout I feel much more sluggish and unmotivated."

So there you have it! If you're struggling to find the energy to get through labor, maybe a few squats are they key to getting it back—that is, if your doctor approves!
