You'll Love This Dad's Response to His Wife's Postpartum Body Woes

Talk about an amazing partner! This man had the most beautiful, perfect reponse when his wife complained about her post-baby body.

If you've given birth, you know how tough it can be to feel totally confident in your postpartum body. No matter how many times you tell yourself that your body has done the most amazing thing in the world, it's hard to ignore those physical changes that are a little less amazing. And while no one else's approval matters (not even your significant other's), sometimes hearing supportive words can make a world of a difference in how you view yourself.

Australian mama Laura Mazza, the blogger behind Mum on the Run, shared a post that illuminates this very issue. Mazza recognized that her body has changed since before she had her children, and she worried that the body she has now is too far from the one her husband fell in love with before they became parents. But he quieted her fears with a truly touching message.

"I stood in front of him, exhausted and broken, the tears welled in my eyes," Mazza wrote in a Facebook post that has gone viral. "'This isn't the body you fell in love with.' Then he said, 'You're right. It isn't the body I fell in love with. Instead it's a body that grew our children, it fed our children, it comforted our children, it made life. Your body is the one I fall in love with every day. I didn't know what love was until I saw this body and found out all it could do, so thank you.''"

No, we're not crying. You're crying.

We love this message—not just because it's incredibly sweet, but also because it's true. That postpartum body is so worthy of celebration. And while we all ultimately need to find self-acceptance above all else, hearing a loved one put things into perspective in such a perfect way is also important.

Partners, take notes from Mazza's husband. This comment is pretty much a master class in being a supportive partner to a new mom who is struggling to embrace those changes.
