One woman is sharing an incredibly important message to all the mamas out there who welcomed their babies via C-section.
Every woman's experience of welcoming her children is different—and C-section births are no less valid than vaginal births. To make this point, Instagram account @BumpBox shared a stunning photo of a mother's body—but it's the caption that speaks volumes.
"We've heard the (completely unfair and invalid) argument that C-section childbirth is 'the easy way out,' and we've also heard spot-on arguments from mothers who have been through Caesarean births that dispel that line of thinking. This particular post is yet another reminder that C-sections are hard. They aren't always desirable, the effects they leave behind are rarely pretty...but they're still beautiful because they bring children into this world, and moms who undergo C-sections should be incredibly proud of themselves.
"It is imperative that a woman who has a Caesarean birth, knows that her birth is still birth. Often women whom [sic] birth this way are made to feel they have failed as a woman, that their bodies have failed them + they really didn't get to experience birth, but we will continue to shout this from the rooftops because that is NOT the case," the post's author writes.
The author also points out that sometimes C-sections can actually be harder to undergo. Between the surgical aspect, the complications that could arise, and the actual recovery involved (which is something C-sections moms have to power through while raising newborns), it's certainly not an easy experience, and women who welcome their babies this way should never be shamed.
Ultimately, C-section haters really need to consider how unfair it is to judge a mom for giving birth this way. Plenty of mothers feel lingering disappointment over their C-sections, but this photo is just a strong reminder that no matter how your baby comes into this world, you should praise yourself.
"The scar may not be seen as pretty + often the woman doesn't want it but to all the Caesarean Mumma's out their [sic] be proud of it + be proud of your birth story," the post's author writes. "Because ultimately that's how you welcomed the love of your life into this great big crazy wonderful world!!!!"
