The rising popularity of gender cakes adds a fun twist to finding out if it's a boy or a girl.
Planning to find out if you're having a boy or a girl? Satisfy your curiosity and your sweet tooth at the same time with a gender cake.
Ask the ultrasound tech to write the sex of your baby on a piece of paper, then take the note to your favorite bakery (no peeking!) and request a gender cake. (In case the bakers haven't heard of those yet, tell them that the batter should be pink or blue.) Then invite friends and family over for a gender cake party. The neutral frosting won't give anything away, but the first slice will reveal what everyone, including you, has been wanting to know.
If cake isn't your cup of tea, there are other clever ideas to sharing the news of a boy or girl. Our friends over at Babble shared a very clever idea: Surprise Lanterns. Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day! "came up with this idea as a fun party accessory. But how fun would it be to fill them with pink or blue confetti at a Gender Reveal Party?" This do-it-yourself craft will be the hit of your party.
When looking for such parties, Etsy and Pinterest are your go-to spots for ideas. From personalized party invitations to keeping score of your guests' guesses on a chalkboard, there are plenty of creative ways of announcing your baby's gender!
Did you find out your baby's gender before he or she was born? If so, how did you share the news with others?
