Three Little Bears Maple Apple Porridge
- 1 1/2 cups skim milk
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup bulgur
- 1/3 cup cornmeal
- 2 teaspoons butter, lightly salted
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
1. Bring milk, water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add oats, bulgur and cornmeal and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring often, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cover.
2. Heat butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add apples and cinnamon and saute until soft, about 8 minutes. Add syrup, reduce heat to low, cover and cook 2 minutes. Spoon cereal into bowls and top with warm apple mixture.
